(Mini) Wedding of a Lifetime

Last year we were invited by Hawaii Bride & Groom Magazine to take part in a all-expense paid dream wedding giveaway. Two lucky local lovebirds would be chosen by viewers to be flown to Oahu to be pampered, fitted, dined and wed like celebrities. We all had a blast driving from the luxury Hawaii Prince Hotel to the elegant Ocean Crystal Chapel of the Hilton Hawaiian Village, through Waikiki while honking and waving to cheering onlookers, to the Homestead reception in Aina Haina.

"So what do MINI Coopers have to do with weddings?"

I was surprised how many times we were asked this question last weekend at the 2007 Bridal Expo at the Blaisdell Center in Honolulu. Of course, had I been asked this question a few weeks earlier, I would have also replied "I have no idea." However, after a few brides called us up last week to book convertible MINI Cooper rentals for their hawaii weddings instead of limos, it all started to make sense.

Hawaii brides, as well as future brides looking at having their weddings in Hawaii, don't want to do the same thing as every other girl. They want something different. They want something exciting. They want to be able to show their wedding pictures to friends and say "check out what I had at my wedding!" And having a few MINIs in your wedding will definitely give you bragging rights.

Thanks to the Mini of Hawaii dealership, we were able to showcase 5 brand new MINI Coopers at the show (all but one of ours were being rented). Since we left the doors open, everyone wanted to take a seat in these colorful, sports little cars and take a picture. And I can't count the number of times I heard, "wow, honey, they sure are bigger than they look inside."

We were able to meet many of the excellent wedding professionals from Oahu and the outer islands, and even spent some time with the owner of Brides Club, Brad Buckles. On the last day of the expo, we at Little Hawaii were honored (and very surprised) to receive the BEST NEW PRODUCT/SERVICE award. Special thanks to all the other vendors who casted their vote in our direction.
